Clare’s Visit

20 Mar

Clare, one of my close friends from college, came in town this weekend to visit us girls that still live here in Atlanta. Not long after her arrival on Friday evening we hit Midtown for a girls dinner out at Einstein’s.

From left to right in the below picture: Chloe, Brittany and Clare.

002

I ordered a vegetable plate for dinner that included mushrooms, quinoa-spinach risotto, creamed corn hush puppies and swiss chard.

004

Since it was girls dinner out we had to order to dessert. We couldn’t settle on just one so we opted for two. A mocha chocolate ice cream cake and banana crème pie.

007

We were all SO full afterwards but it was definitely worth it.

Saturday morning Clare and I got up and took Moose for a nice 3.5 mile walk around my neighborhood. It was such a gorgeous morning out. Later in the afternoon (in 80 degree weather!! :) ) we cheered on Brittany’s kickball team who ended up winning 5-3!

Saturday evening Chris and I hosted a little barbecue over at Chris’ house with Clare, Brittany and Nicole. Clare and I took our first attempt at making veggie burgers. We chose this black bean burger recipe and got to work. We even got to use my new food processor for the first time.

Here’s Clare mashing up the black beans:

Our finished product before they got grilled!

Chris was the grill master all night.

We had so much food for dinner it was insane! We started with chips, salsa, guacamole, crackers and hummus for appetizers. And ended with black bean burgers, salad, grilled veggies, baked sweet potato fries and grilled pineapple.

053

Chris and I really enjoyed having friends over and grilling. We definitely see more nights like this as it continues to get warmer. I just hope patio weather is here to stay. I really don’t want anymore cold weather, after all tomorrow is the first day of Spring!

This morning Clare and I got up early to go watch the Publix Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon.

055

We went to cheer on a few friends that were running the race. First we spotted Clare’s running buddy who was completing the full marathon. Next I saw Kristy kicking butt for the half. And last but not least, we saw our good friends Malory and Cory doing an awesome job running their first half! I tried to get a picture of them but unfortunately it turned out super blurry (I’m showing you anyways).

056

Great job to everyone who ran the race today!!

After cheering on our friends in the race we headed over to Starbucks to visit Chloe and get some breakfast.

061

Chloe made me a delicious iced coffee on their new Clover machine. They are only one of two Starbucks in the country to even have this fancy machine! And I got to try it, pretty cool huh? I also had a multigrain bagel with cream cheese.

059

After breakfast Clare got on the road to head back home. I was sad to see her go but I had such a fun time hanging out with her all weekend. Plus I get to see her again in a month for her baby shower here in Atlanta!

Great job on your race! It was really fun finding you in the race. You were running so fast that I didn’t have time to take a picture of you!

I ordered the exact same meal the last time I went to Einstein’s. Minus the dessert… I got the peach pound cake. :)

Which Starbucks has the Clover? Was it awesome or did you notice a difference?

Haha that’s too funny that we ordered the same thing. Their desserts are so good too.
The Starbucks at Ansley Mall has the fancy new Clover machine. I did think my coffee was more flavorful than normal, although I’m no coffee pro. A guy in line behind me said that after having his coffee from the Clover he has been in every morning to get his coffee brewed from that machine. I wouldn’t go that far but again I really don’t know much at all about coffee. :)

Where we you standing? Is that Little 5? I didn’t see you at all! Apparently, I didn’t see anyone! Kristy took a picture of me and I still didn’t see her!

Haha. Yeah I was right before you ran through Little 5, just before El Myr. I looked for you but didn’t see you either, bummer. I read your race recap and you did great! Congrats!
