Family Room Updates

I previously mentioned that on Thursday night Chris and I did a little house shopping. We have been wanting some sort of coffee table type thing for the middle of the rug. We also wanted a few new lamps for some extra pizazz. Basically we wanted some newness but we also didn’t want to spend too much money. So guess where we went? Target! My favorite store.
I didn’t have many good before photos of the family room and I was too excited to take pictures of the room before we added the new items. I know, sometimes I get too excited and pictures would only slow me down.
So here are the best BEFORE photos I have of the family room:
The rocking chair sits in the corner year round, but the Christmas tree (in the above photo) went there during the holidays.

We added the new bench/coffee table and the floor lamp (hard to see in this pic because of the lighting).
We love the new look. It is so much more cozy with the bench. At first Chris was really worried that it would get in the walkway and be too much of a pain in the you-know-what. Turns out it really finishes the room and doesn’t get in our way at all!
Now for the really exciting news: Clare is HERE!!! Clare is one of my best friends from college and she is in town for the entire weekend. I’ve gotta run because I need to get dolled up for dinner. We are meeting a couple other girl friends at Einstein’s in a little bit.

I like the updates! We need a floor lamp too for our living room- I think I might try Ikea- where did you get yours?
