Pollen, Pollen Go Away

23 Mar

It was another beautiful Spring day in Atlanta. Spring is my favorite season so I’m pretty much one happy camper right now…except for my allergies!

013

I have lived in Atlanta my entire life and never once have I suffered from allergies. Cars are beginning to change colors due to the yellowy green layer of pollen coating them. And I’m beginning to sneeze and blow my nose like crazy. Not fun. And not so pretty. Look at these awful faces I make due to my nose itching non-stop.

The nose scrunch that eases the itchiness.

015

The grab my nose and try to rip it off maneuver.

017

And the use the back of your hand to rub your nose until it feels better.

019

Since I have only had allergies for the last few months I really don’t know how to handle this. Can you tell by my weird moves? P.S. I was safely stopped at a red light during my photo shoot.

My sister suggested I try the chiropractor because she has been allergy-free since getting adjustments. I have gone twice now and tomorrow I go back for my third visit and hopefully an allergy test. This sneezing and runny nose started back in October and hasn’t let up, especially now that the pollen count is 2459 (over 1500 means the pollen count is extremely high!)!

Enough of my weird faces and on to some FOOD.

After my five mile run this morning in 62 degree weather I was super hot. I needed something filling, full of protein and cool. I decided to make a cool strawberry smoothie with chocolate protein powder. And a piece of peanut butter toast sprinkled with ground flax.

Lunch was a slice of leftover Hawaiian barbecue pizza and a salad.

After lunch I went on a little lunch break shopping adventure. I wanted to get out of the office and enjoy the weather and also use my 30% off coupon at Old Navy. I went into the dressing room with 13 items and liked all but 2. Even with 11 yes’s in my arms, I still had more shopping in mind: accessories and baby clothes for my niece. I ended up walking out with 16 items for less than $170! And the best part, I saved $125!!! Holy savings!

I did not come home empty handed today.

024

After setting all my lovely new items down, Chris and I took the Mooser for a walk.

Then we came home and Chris cooked dinner! He made us a big batch of veggie stir fry. Yum!

056

Dessert was a small scoop of Purely Decadent peanut butter zig zag ice cream with a handful of pretzel M&Ms.

058

Time to hang out with my little family.

Do you suffer from allergies when all of the flowers and trees start blooming?

Ugh, unfortunately yes. I think that the pollen here gets worse each year.

Oh no, I don’t like the sounds of that!

I never used to growing up, but in the last few years I’ve definitely noticed the itchy hazy feeling when the cars go yellow!

I suffer from allergies ALL YEAR LONG. Its terrible. I’m allergic to pollen, mold and dust so it pretty much covers all four seasons here in Michigan. Luckily I think they’re finally calming down instead of getting progressively worse each year. Neti pots are so weird, but they really do help!

Oh bummer, all year long, ughh! I’ve heard about neti pots but always been too weirded out to try them. Guess I should give that a shot!
