Early Valentine’s at Sprig

Chris and I celebrated our one and only Valentine’s Day as an engaged couple a few days early with a dinner at Sprig last night.

We’ve been to Sprig once before for our two year anniversary. We hate that it’s been so long since we’ve been back to visit, but Valentine’s was a great excuse to go back.

We began with a round of beers and fried pickles. The fried pickles were great. The pickles were thick and the batter crispy with two great dipping sauces.

For our entrees, Chris chose the 9 oz filet with braised red cabbage and smashed red potatoes.

Chris raved about his steak and said he really wished I could take a bite because I was missing out.

I went with the beet risotto and got a bowl of brussel sprouts to share.

My risotto was fabulous. Nice and pink for Valentine’s Day too! It was topped with parmesan and fried sage and thank goodness I have leftovers because I can’t wait to enjoy more of this tasty dish.

The brussel sprouts on the other hand were just okay. Chris and I agreed that my roasted brussels are much better and lack the heavy butter that these had.

All in all a great evening spent enjoying each other’s company and of course, the food.

After we went home to watch the Grammys. They were awesome this year! From Adele’s performance (she stole the show!), to Jennifer Hudson paying tribute and singing Whitney, to the final performance by Paul McCartney, it was a great show.

Actually take out Chris Brown’s performance and I would have thought it was a flawless night. Sorry, but why do people still support him and continue to give him more chances?

All in all though, a beautiful show with a great respect shown towards Whitney Houston.

This week’s workouts will hopefully follow the below schedule:

  • Sunday – ran 7 miles with Linda, full body workout with Chris
  • Monday – rest
  • Tuesday – BodyPump
  • Wednesday – run 5 miles
  • Thursday – run 4 miles
  • Friday – at home workout like BodyRock
  • Saturday – run 8 miles

What did you think of the Grammys? Did you have a favorite part?

Did you have any early Valentine’s celebrations this weekend?

I have been meaning to try Sprig for a long time. Will have to make the trip just to get that risotto!

The Grammy’s were great – Adele was the highlight for me, but I thought everyone was good. With the exception of Chris Brown and that Niki something.

Sprig looks good! I added that immediately to my list of places to go once you showed the fried pickles!

I think Steven and I are going to Dantes this week. Have you and Chris been? It’s such a cool place!

I’ve always wanted to try Sprig.

Jason and I went out last night to celebrate V-day. I like celebrating it early; there’s not as many crowds!
