I don’t know how this 5lb 15oz newborn grew so quickly. She rolls over, she sits, she eats baby food and she’s acting like she wants to crawl.
Moose, our 90 pound dog, used to do nothing for her, but now she is finally interested in his whereabouts. Lucky for her he doesn’t seem to mind when she tries to grab chunks of his fur.
Eating is going very well. She’s had rice cereal, pureed vegetables and fruits all without incident. Then the other night I got fancy and made her organic carrots. She loved them so much she barfed them out…so much for trying to be domestic.
I’ve said it every month and I’ll say it again (with this time seeming more allowed), I can’t believe how quickly it goes. I mean celebrating her half birthday already?! I feel like next thing I know I’m going to be laughing and crying simultaneously as she smashes her first birthday cake in her face. Slow time down. Please!
Until then we’ll keep soaking up every minute with this precious girl. We are so very thankful she’s ours.
I wrote this a few weeks ago, but didn’t take pics until she was technically 6.5 months old…and now here I am posting this and she’ll be 7 months next week…
Oh hey there! Happy New Year! I’ve spent some time away as I got back into the swing of juggling going back to work after maternity leave, spending time with my family and working on Parallel Face and Body’s first holiday season. It’s been busy for sure, but I’m really enjoying it all so I can’t complain!
We also just had a long holiday break. And it was fantastic.
Frances is somehow already six months old (hope to have an update for you soon), Christmas has come and gone, and 2015 is here. Craziness.
I hope you all have been enjoying this holiday season! Hope you have a smooth transition back to reality too
Now for a few pictures from the holidays. All thanks to my awesome cousin/photographer Jana.
^^ this actually goes back to Thanksgiving. Frances had just woken up from a nap and then we were like, smile it’s picture time!
^^ blowing raspberries, which she thinks is hilarious

Well hello there. I’m back with an update on our five month old girl. We’ve been having so much fun with this little baby that we skipped her four month old pictures (terrible parents already…), but for five months we made it happen.
In the last couple of months she’s started doing some new things – the best are her making raspberries and her giggles. She especially loves to do raspberries with her dad. They go back and forth with each other, blowing bubbles and probably spitting all over each other’s faces. Her laughs are less frequent, but when they happen, they are beyond adorable.
She hasn’t really rolled over yet on her own. Two times she’s rolled from back to front but she had a little help because she rolled off her mat and the rug, onto the floor – so there was a little incline to help out. She is grabbing everything in sight though and putting it in her mouth. I’m wondering if a tooth will be popping through soon.
She’s still sleeping through the night, but right at four months when I read she may start to experience the ‘four month sleep regression’ she did. Basically now she’s going into deep REM sleeps, so when she wakes from one she has a harder time getting herself back to sleep. During this time she also loves to maneuver herself up to the top of her crib and then start crying because her head is hitting the crib. Chris has been awesome at going into her room when she’s crying in the middle of the night. He usually just has to move her back down and put her pacifier in her mouth and back to sleep she goes.
We couldn’t love her any more and we couldn’t be any more thankful for such a sweet girl.
Now I’m going to go cry that she’ll be six months old in a few weeks…
We dressed up baby girl for her first Halloween. She was all ready to greet the trick or treaters with three giant bags of candy. And then we only got on trick or treater. We just moved to this house in March and while the neighborhood definitely has a lot more kids, around us the kids are a little too young. The quieter than expected night gave us more time to take pictures of our sweet little bunny rabbit. And to eat as much candy as we wanted…
Maternity leave is over and our little newborn seems like she’s grown to be a real baby. She holds her head up fairly well and she’s even started sitting up in the Bumbo. She’s “talking” up a storm and loves it when we coo back at her. Yes, we’ve turned into those people who coo back and forth with their baby. Her smiles are still melting my heart and I get even more now with loads of gums. Adorable.
Of course she didn’t smile much for these pictures (she was on the verge of needing a nap), but she did kick and punch like she loves to do. She’s also been loving to chew on her hands. She hasn’t quite found her thumb but at this rate it’s seeming like she’ll like her thumb over the pacifier.
As for daycare, we got really lucky and ended up finding the perfect solution right as I was going back to work. Seriously, the timing couldn’t have been better. There’s a lady in our neighborhood who watches a few kids in her home. Frances seems to love her fun energy already, plus she gets to be a few other kids of various ages, which I think is good for her.
